About Me

 Bill 'Eli' Owenby is a home-grown Arizona native.  Bill's family is considered and registered as an Arizona Pioneer Family member, which means his descendants are one of the founding families in and around the state of Arizona.  His website name and 'brand' is from the actual family cattle brand which not only spells his last name but sounds like it to: Owenby/ONB.  Therefore, Bill's personal brand is actually an updated approach to the family's cattle 'brand'!

He graduated with Honors from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Minor in Sociology in 2007 while under scholarship as an All-Arizona Academic Team member.  He moved up to Tempe, AZ where he pursued his CACREP-accredited Masters of Community Counseling Program with Arizona State University and graduated with High Honors in 2009.  Bill immediately moved back to Tucson where he started a full-time position as a clinical mental health therapist and met his current wife, who was a Case Manager (shhh, don't tell anyone it was a secret work-love relationship!).  Bill and Katherine moved to Akron, Ohio to pursue his accredited PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision while she pursued her Masters in Clinical Counseling.

Over the years, Bill and Katherine have presented and published together on many topics including Animal Assisted Therapy, Cohabitation as Married Therapists, and Inspirational Quotes in Applied Therapy Practice.  Katherine is an award-winning professional and recently received the coveted 40 Under 40 Award within Tucson, AZ.  Bill is an award-winning professional, ranging from Research to Publication, to Practice, and the coveted International Most Outstanding Counseling Doctoral Student in 2016.  Although Bill did not finish the PhD due to faculty, accreditation, and University barriers, he will attempt to carry the ABD badge with honor (All But Dissertation).  

On the flip side of accomplishments, Bill was a 2x World champion in karate kata (forms) and kumite (fighting), a 2x National Cycling champion in the 100 mile mountain bike category and King of the Hill Stage Race, a 12x state cycling champion, a world-ranked cyclist in his former days (was ranked 38th in the world at time of photo above) ,a nationally ranked swimmer, and held pre-qualified MENSA status.
